Gangwon Province Holds Meeting with Sustainable Development Council
- Discusses 2025 Key Projects and Future Cooperation -

[Chuncheon, Gangwon] – Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province (Governor Kim Jin-tae) held a roundtable discussion with the Sustainable Development Council on February 6 (Thursday) at the council's office in the Hupyeong Industrial Complex in Chuncheon.
Strengthening Public-Private Collaboration for Sustainable Growth
The Sustainable Development Council is a public-private partnership organization established to promote sustainable growth across various sectors, including industry, economy, and culture. The council has set 17 key objectives in areas such as employment, industry, welfare, agriculture, energy, and the environment, which it is actively implementing.
These objectives closely align with Gangwon Province’s vision of becoming a global city for future industries.

Discussing 2025 Key Initiatives
The roundtable discussion was attended by Governor Kim Jin-tae, Council Secretary-General Son Won-gyo, and council members. Participants exchanged opinions on the major projects planned for 2025.
The council announced plans to increase public awareness of sustainable development through extensive promotional campaigns and to strengthen partnerships with various institutions and organizations to accelerate goal implementation.
In response, Gangwon Province emphasized cooperation with institutions such as the Korea Climate Change Research Institute and Gangwon Research Institute, urging them to contribute to provincial development.
Expanding Public Engagement and Strengthening National Cooperation
Looking ahead to 2025, the Gangwon Sustainable Development Council plans to visit institutions, organizations, and major events to expand public awareness campaigns on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Additionally, public forums and discussions will be held to gather citizens' opinions on sustainable policies.
To ensure effective execution, the council will maintain close communication with relevant provincial government departments and accelerate progress toward its objectives.
Furthermore, the council aims to expand its national network by participating in events such as the Korea Sustainable Development Conference and attending nationwide meetings of sustainability-related organizations. By doing so, Gangwon Province seeks to take on a leading role in sustainable development initiatives at the national level.
